Christine Pendant is a bead embroidered pendant using dimensional bead embroidery techniques with an unusual component.
Over ten years ago Catriona was working for a retail company where one of the jobs was supervising store set ups and take downs. During the removal of a store while at the skip bin she discovered an unusual component on the ground. It was something that piqued her interest immediately and she felt it needed to be incorporated into her beadwork.
The first design using the fascinating component, a thrust bearing was born, and she has made many designs over the years using bearings of different sizes in her work. Two of the designs I made previously were awarded first and second place, one in a Bead Society of Victoria bead challenge and one in the members original jewellery section. The Christine pendant uses some dimensional techniques developed over the years to add extra depth to bead embroidery.
Saturday 6th July – 9.30am to 4.00pm with a 30 minute lunch break
The project will not be completed in class, detailed instructions will be provided to allow for completion at home.
