2018 Bead Retreat

Thursday 18th January 2018 - Sunday 21st January 2018 

Each January the BSV holds a members only retreat for in a central, convenient location for members from all sides of the city and interstate to meet. We always have lots of fun creating together, working some creative magic. It is also the chance to have a lovely, long weekend away for many, or maybe just a day or two if you can't manage all three days. 

 

Take the opportunity to do a class or two, learn a new technique, or simply work on your own projects with help from your friends if necessary. Most importantly, it is a time to relax, and enjoy a crafty break away from the usual domestic routines, with all meals provided.

The 2018 retreat will be held again at: 

 

University College, 40 College Crescent, Parkville, VIC, 3052. MELWAY REF: 2B - C3

 

Check in commences at 4 pm Thursday for those members already booked.

 

Note: New Thursday night check-ins are not available.

Only one or two day accommodation options available now for Friday 19th and Saturday 20th 2018.

 

Day visits still open, but limited accommodation available.

The University College lovely new cafeteria/dining room is in operation now, with the new accommodation building works expected to be completed by the time we arrive. New dining room furniture is also on order.


We will utilize the same air-conditioned, well lit common room and workshop areas as previously.

All accommodation is single rooms with all linen supplied.
Choice of air-conditioned en-suite rooms or single rooms with fans supplied and shared bathroom facilities close by.
 
Bedrooms have desks and lamps for your convenience. 
 
 
 
2018 REGISTRATIONS OPEN MONDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2017
 
Be quick to register for your choice as many of the accommodation and workshops often book out quickly and places are limited. Member staying for the full three days do receive first preference, so book in soon.

 

  • Monday September 25th: ONLY Full three night accommodation bookings taken from this date. The first workshop bookings are only available to members booking this option.
  • Saturday September 30th: Two and one night accommodation bookings commence, with workshop bookings also available.
  • Saturday October 7th: Daily attendee bookings open. Retreat visits and workshop bookings if vacancies exist.

Attendance details: Check in 4.00 pm Thursday - Check out by 4.00 pm Sunday: Three day attendance

One or two night stays would normally commence on a Thursday or Friday evening, starting with dinner. This may be extended to include the whole day of arrival if arriving to stay on a Friday or Saturday night.

 

If you wish to arrive earlier in the day to participate in a workshop before you commence your accommodation stay, an additional daily attendance fee applies. This includes your lunch and a facility fee contribution.

All members registering for accommodation options have already had a daily facility fee included in their payment.

Daily Attendances: If you are attending by day (Friday or Saturday) and would like to extend your daily outing to include dinner, staying for the evening activities, tick the dinner box as well. On Saturday night we will run a fun group activity session after dinner, prior to settling in for some more creative work.
Choose the option that you prefer. 
 
Workshops: Some more detailed workshops are based on a two session attendance, so both must be booked. 
There is a maximum limit of up to FOUR workshops permitted per member to begin with this year. If you book more than this, you may have one cancelled without consultation. If at a later stage vacancies still exist, we may relax this rule, but limiting them to begin with is fairer on all.
 
Please book your accommodation and up to four half day sessions at the same time if possible.
To register and pay for all events in one payment, simply choose the Invoice me option for each event first, then you can pay the total final invoice that will appear as a warning to you.
 
Do not book any workshops unless you have also booked an accommodation option, or after 7th October, a daily attendance option to match your workshop day. 
 
Traders: The trading space will be open for shopping to attendees 8.00 am - 8.45 am, then again 5.00 pm - 5.45 pm. 
So you will have the chance to stock up on some extra supplies each day, always a tempting option.
 
Balance of Payment: If you choose the accommodation deposit option available only to three and two day attendees, a manual invoice will be prepared for you afterwards, so the balance can be paid by 3rd December 2017.

One night accommodation or daily attendance registrations must be paid in full.

  •  Cancellations and changes to workshops can be made up until 3rd December 2017, however all cancellations will incur a $10 administration fee. There is no refund for cancellations made after this date as final bookings and class details will have been confirmed with the University and tutors.
  • Late bookings may be accepted if class vacancies exist, but kits may be subject to availability if booked late.
  • If minimum numbers are not achieved, we reserve the right to cancel a workshop and will refund all monies paid.

Online bookings are highly recommended as this will expedite all registration confirmations that include your links for workshop requirements, minimising the administration workload for coordinators.

You will receive updates on any special arrangements closer to the date of the Retreat if necessary.

If you are unable to complete your booking online, please email info@beadsociety.com.au and we will email, or contact you to complete a manual payment. This will take a little longer though and preference cannot be given over online bookings. Administrative manual bookings may not be done until approximately three to five days after the opening dates for each event. There will be a time lapse between mail arriving and being processed.

Intermediate - some knowledge of the techniques being taught
